CONCLUSIONS


Left atrial enlargement reflects chronic changes associated with diastolic dysfunction and decreased left ventricular compliance inherent to HCM. Although LAVI has poor specificity for predicting elevated left ventricular filling pressures, a normal LAVI is a reliable indicator of normal ventricular filling pressures at rest.
